How To Make Your Home Winter Ready

Winter is coming! We are all ready for more time inside and Discover LLB has put together 5 simple tips and shopping ideas to get your home winter ready. So turn the heater on, snuggle under the blanket and grab that cup of soup and enjoy the warmth of your winter home!

1. GET THE RIGHT COLOUR!
It’s easy to imagine that grey, white and dark colours are the only shades suitable for winter, but that’s not always the case! This Newport Quilt Cover Sheet (RRP from AUD279) from Laura Ashley quilt set is made from easy-care Cotton Percale Classic Stripes, with a crisp white pintuck detail on a Seaspray background. The quilt creates a warm and inviting ambiance, and is especially radiant when coupling it with fresh flowers by the bedside. From there, accessories in warm, light colours for your lamps, clocks and knick knacks!

But of course, the traditional warm, grey and intimate winter feel is also a winner, and so does this quilt cover from Country Road. The Emile Quilt cover (RRP from AUD249) has a pale grey fabric with a cross border white pattern, adding a radiance to your winter-ready room! From there, spicing it up with some small scatter cushions in teal, light yellow, dusty pink can also bring the room to life.

2. GET THE RIGHT MATERIALS!
A wet winter season can get bitterly cold at the best of times, so make sure you have the right warmers ready in the right place! Pick a warmer woolly blanket over a polyester-based throws to heat you up on an icy day. Country Road is great for blankets and winter-warmers, and their blankets match perfectly with one-colour pieces of furniture.

3. PICK THE RIGHT PLANTS INSIDE!
Pot plants are perfect for giving your home that clean, fresh feeling. During a season where you spend less time outside, it’s great to bring greenery back into your interior. Pick your favourite plants from your local Sunday farmers market such as Subiaco, Mt. Claremont and/or Fremantle, or if you are short on time or have no ability to maintain plants, visit North Perth shop ‘Branches’ for a wide range of artificial plants.

4. PUT THE RUG UP!
Winter is definitely rug season, and if you have a rug that has been sitting under your couch for a while, it probably best to replace it with a thick, fluffier one ready for the cold weather. Custom design rugs are available at Artisan Rugs in Osborne Park, or pop into any of the many rugs shops across Perth city. Make sure you feel comfortable when you are on it!

5. GET THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES!
Keep it personal; mix and match your accessories and personal items with other trinkets and aromatic candles to create that winter feel. Wood surfaces and accessories such as photo frames also fit well into a winter theme. Cushions, throws and rugs also work as easy, economical additions in order to create that winter feeling with your current furniture. Laura Ashley and Country Road have various collections of cushions, throws and any other simple accessories perfect for your winter home.
