Sunday Brunch at St. Regis Bali

St. Regis is renowned for its unparalled luxury service, opulence and elegance. And this also comes to its signature Sunday brunch at their award winning restaurant, Kayuputi.

The Astor Diamond Champagne Brunch builds upon the stylish legacy of the Astor family, who created grandeur on a new scale with The St. Regis New York in 1904. The world famous hotel launched New York society into a new era of lavish and decadent afternoon teas and late night suppers.

Through its Astor Diamond Champagne Brunch experience, The St. Regis Bali Resort reinvents and redefines that luxury with the finest Asian-inspired haute cuisine, presented and served in a style unprecedented in opulence and exclusivity from 11am to 3pm.

We arrived just prior 11am and was stunned with the beauty of the resort. The open lobby feels airy, grandeur and inviting. The lobby faces the ocean with a long strip of stone fountain.

A majestic staircase with fresh flowers pots in the middle part to go down from the lobby was also a great of opulence addition which blends beautifully with the tropical and Balinese ambiance. 

We were escorted to Kayuputi with a bungee and our driver took us around the resort before arriving at Kayuputi.

We were greeted by Harald Wiesmann, Kayuputi’s Chief Sommelier and invited us to explore the restaurant. The restaurant is in white theme with golden teak wood which add the luxury and tropical ambiance; a true Indonesian’s resemblance.

Our first impression of the restaurant is grandeur, open and majestic. An immaculate open kitchen with a gigantic stainless steel exhaust facing the guests while floor to ceiling glass windows facing the pool and the Indian ocean on the other side. It’s calm, open, airy, full of beautiful sunshine without being burnt; a really well designed and well thought out building. 

Utilising one of Indonesia’s best traditional inheritance; the wayang as dividers are a great and smart way to add the traditional touch while still in function and opulence.

Beautiful grain upholstery leather chairs and sofas alongside with the handmade wicker chairs.

At 11am, the guests are invited to start the service at its renowed Kayuputi champagne bar for endless pass-around canapés served by white-clad staffs and a delectable selection of aperitifs including the famed St. Regis signature Bloody Mary, fine champagne, refreshing juices and mocktails. 

The bar itself is a stunner itself. With its beautiful teak wood sofa with white leather upholstery at the surrounding, the gigantic hand made chandelier made from shells really make a great statement.

At noon, we were escorted to our table and the waiter was explaining the menu which is handcrafted by Kayuputi’s chef à la carte brunch menu, served course by course to the table and supplemented by a selection of delicious chef specialty pass-around plates; an all you can eat a la carte concept with a premier selection of fresh catches of the day including caviar, prime meat selection, decadent desserts and many more. Each dish is prepared by the order to ensure its taste and quality. 

The table set is elegant, formal but fresh. It has the tropical vibe in it. 

After that, the brunch formally opens at noon with the cherished tradition of ceremonial sabrage, in which Harald opens a champagne bottle with a saber and pass around the champagnes to the guests.

The luncheon was started with a beautiful and delicate Sturia caviar vintage that’s served with vichyssoise ice cream, potato crumble, citrus sour cream espuma, and basil oil.

Among the many pass-around highlights are the Rougié foie gras, slow-braised Wagyu short ribs and the seafood trio. 

From the beetroot composition, to Caesar salad, lobster gratin, roast beef, herb bread-crusted Australian lamb chop and the interesting yellow fin tuna tataki with oxtail dumplings and five spice soy reduction, the chefs really take us on a rich and extraordinary gastronomic voyage.

To sum it up, we agree to say the brunch as Lavish and decadent. Kayuputi exceeded our expectation with its elegant beachfront brunch showcasing Asian-inspired haute cuisine, a real gastronomic indulgence.
